Los centros de atención in situ ofrecen acceso rápido a la atención para problemas de salud mental y consumo de sustancias que no sean potencialmente mortales. Los centros están abiertos durante las horas habituales de trabajo de los días laborables y ofrecen evaluaciones el mismo día sin necesidad de cita previa.
Los centros sin cita previa también ofrecen gestión de la medicación, terapia individual y terapia de grupo. Algunos centros ofrecen servicios adicionales, como atención posterior a la estabilización, servicios para personas con discapacidad intelectual o del desarrollo, o centros de educación para la recuperación, que ofrecen apoyo para una recuperación satisfactoria.
